Welcome to the Big Pine K2 Ocean and Shoreline Cleanup
Before you sign up, Please keep in mind the following before signing up to volunteer.
Calendars fill up fast!
The amount of volunteers we can accommodate on the boat is 8 per trip and calendars fill up fast!
Timing:
Though we start at 10am, Please arrive at 9:45 am promptly at 30335 Warbler Lane Big Pine Key Fl. so that we can get you ready to go.
The day ends around 3:30 pm so please be flexible.
If you can’t make it:
- Please be courteous if you cannot make the trip. Please call 804-815-0655 or text as far in advance as possible.
- We are a family run charity but our Captains are hired. Seats are limited and people are told the boat is full and cannot go. Not showing up causes a loss of people who truly wanted to go and staff who were hired and not needed. It is a free trip but no shows are painful and expensive.
Weather can play a factor:
- Lightning causes us to cancel at the last minute so check in with us if imminent weather looks possible
What we provide:
- Lunch is provided including fresh Chicken Tenders and Apples from Winn Dixie
- Boots and gloves
What you should bring:
- Please bring a refillable water bottle, no plastic water/gatorade is allowed on board.
- Water shoes: We wade into areas that are filled with muck. Make sure your shoes are secure and won’t be pulled off in deeper bottoms.
- Long sleeved shirts and pants. We climb into the mangroves, and they will take a bite out of you not to mention being out in the sun!
- Work gloves if you have a favorite pair but we have them for you.
- Reef-safe sunscreen.
- Sunglasses. Polarized is preferred.
- Hat, bandanna, or other head covering to protect from the sun.
- Optional: Change of clothes, towel, etc.
Additional info:
- Children under 8 require a chaperone or parent for each.
- We’re sorry but no pets allowed
Don’t forget, Bring a smile!
You are in for a fantastic experience saving the critters of the Keys who desperately need our help. You will make lifelong friends in the CRMA.
